Reduce your site lighting costs this winter with LED

Now more than ever, optimising your energy consumption is essential, particularly as the winter months are looming. This month we’re looking at a range of measures you can take to keep your bills as low as possible. One simple change you can implement, whether you’re in a factory, an office, or on a building site is installing LED lighting. This simple change can reduce your lighting costs by as much as 80%.

What makes LED lighting so energy efficient?

The biggest benefit of LED lighting is energy efficiency. A traditional incandescent or halogen bulb uses 40 watts of power to only 5 watts of the average LED bulb. And while the LED bulb has a higher up-front cost, it also has an average lifespan of 20,000 hours, which is a real leg up on its filament counterparts, which average about 1,000 hours. Basically, one LED bulb lasts as long as 20 standard bulbs.

Other benefits of switching to LED lighting

Along with cost savings, LED lighting also reduces your business’s carbon footprint. By making the switch to LED, you can save around 5kg of CO2 emissions. Not only does this make your business greener, but up until the 31st of March 2023, you can even claim a 130% super-deduction capital allowance and a 50% first-year allowance for qualifying special rate assets which allow businesses to cut their tax bill by up to 25% for every £1 they invest…and this includes your upgrade to LED lighting.
