LPG, Diesel, or Electric? Which Industrial Heater Is Right For You?

Industrial heaters are devices used to generate heat in large worker environments or processes. Designed to heat large spaces or materials to high temperatures, industrial heaters can be instrumental during the winter months in environments that have a hard time keeping out the cold, such as building sites. While all industrial heaters work towards the same goal of producing heat, the way they achieve it varies as there are many different types, including electric heaters, LPG and propane heaters, and diesel heaters. So, which heater is right for you? Below we discuss the various types we have on offer at HIS and the benefits each one brings.

LPG Heaters

LPG heaters are a type of portable heating device that uses liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as a fuel source. They are often used as an alternative to electric heaters or wood-burning stoves, particularly in areas where these other options are not practical or available. LPG heaters can be fueled by propane or butane, and they are generally easy to use and maintain. Some common types of LPG heaters include convection heaters, radiant heaters, and infrared heaters. These devices can be used to heat a wide range of spaces, including homes, offices, and outdoor areas.

There are several benefits to using industrial LPG heaters. These include:

  • Convenience: LPG heaters are portable and can be easily moved from one location to another. They can also be used in a variety of settings, including warehouses, factories, and other industrial spaces.
  • Energy efficiency: LPG heaters are generally more energy-efficient than electric heaters, which can result in lower energy costs.
  • Safety: LPG heaters do not produce any harmful emissions, such as carbon monoxide, when used properly.
  • Cost effectiveness: LPG can be less expensive than other forms of fuel, such as electricity or natural gas, which helps make LPG heaters more cost-effective to operate.
  • Reliability: LPG heaters are generally reliable and easy to maintain, making them a good choice for industrial settings where a constant heat source is needed.

Diesel Heaters

Oil-fired (diesel) industrial heaters are typically very powerful machines. Diesel, paraffin, or kerosene heaters can be used to heat very large areas so are ideal for the likes of storage spaces, open work sites, and greenhouses.

Durability is a key benefit to diesel heaters as they are typically built to withstand harsh industrial environments. Moreover, this type of heater is very reliable as they tend to require less maintenance than other forms of heaters. Many diesel heaters are economical and fuel-efficient, such as the Draper Jet Force Space Heater which provides approximately 15 hours of continuous running time as it produces an impressive 45,000 Btu/hr.

Electric Industrial Heaters

From maintaining a comfortable working environment to drying materials, or keeping equipment at a certain temperature, electric heaters are versatile and used in a number of industrial environments such as manufacturing plants and warehouses. Electric heaters are relatively straightforward to operate and are suitable for environments with access to a mains electric supply. As these heaters vary in terms of power output, the amount of space that requires heat should be considered when choosing the size of an electric heater.

A benefit to an electric space heater is that they are portable so can be easily moved to the area in which you require warmth. Safety is also an advantage of many industrial electric heaters, such as this Draper Electric Space Heater which features dual overheat safety protection providing peace of mind that the system will not overheat. Additionally, electric heaters often provide thermostats to allow temperature control meaning constant room temperature can be maintained.
